Terminix Anderson: EPA Gold Status
The EPA’s Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP) has designated Terminix Anderson as an “outstanding environmental steward”.
Established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1994, the Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP) is a voluntary partnership program that promotes the adoption of innovative, alternative pest control through Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. PESP is guided by the principle that partnership programs complement the standards and decisions established by regulatory and registration actions. The informed actions of pesticide users can further reduce the risks from pests and pesticides by playing a major role in ensuring human health and environmental safety.
As stated on the EPA website, “Gold membership is reserved for PESP’s outstanding environmental stewards. These members’ demonstrated commitment to pesticide risk reduction makes them models for other PESP members. Gold members may develop an IPM strategy, demonstrate significant and sustained progress in reducing pesticide risks, and independently measure the progress of their IPM implementation.”
According to Mark O’Hara, president of Terminix Anderson, “Terminix Anderson is committed to achieving permanent pest solutions while reducing or eliminating pesticide use in every account we service. Our strategy and tactics have always been built around eliminating the source of pest problems, which usually come down to food and harborage issues. When you approach pest control from that perspective, the solutions often don’t require the use of pesticides or rodenticides. We’ve been doing it this way for so long that it’s just common sense to us. It’s gratifying that our efforts have been recognized by the EPA.”
