How Do Termites Spread in Illinois and Indiana?
Believe it or not, termites do not spread at a rapid rate. A colony can also spread so long as the termites have the resources they need to survive and thrive. The factors that affect their ability to spread include:

Do Termites Spread Quickly?
After a termite colony has been active for more than a couple years, the infestation can spread more quickly. A mature termite colony that has been growing for at least five years can consume up to a pound of wood per day. This may not seem like a lot, but this can add up over time if the infestation is not caught in time. Colonies range in size—they can contain anywhere from several hundred to thousands upon thousands of members. Queen termites can lay up to 30,000 eggs in a single day (more than 10 million in a year). This number proves that a single termite problem can grow exponentially.

Can I Get Termites From My Neighbors in the Midwest?
